Sustainable Human and Ecological Development (SHED)

About Us

The Sustainable Human and Ecological Development (SHED) Group is a group of UF/IFAS faculty and postdoctoral, graduate, and undergraduate researchers whose work focuses on balancing the needs of land development and environmental stewardship. Within this broad context, our group conducts interdisciplinary research and extension focused on stormwater management, urban landscapes, and urban ecology. We also have expertise in a wide range of other topics, including invasive species, spatial ecology, ecological restoration, urban soils, data analysis/visualization, water chemistry, and biogeochemical processes. Our group is a resource for those wishing to incorporate sustainable practices into the design, construction, and management of urban and urbanizing landscapes.
