Certificate in Natural Areas Management (CNAM)
Offered by NATA to individuals who complete a series of four 'core' courses covering the topics identified as most important by practitioners in the field. Additionally, one of the fire-trainings below is required to receive the CNAM certificate.
Hundreds of natural resource professionals in Florida have graduated from the NATA program and received their Certificate in Natural Areas Management. Our graduates represent state, federal, county, and city agencies; private and non-profit organizations; universities; and military.
The courses may be completed in any order, and there is no time limit to complete the series. Click on each course title below for additional descriptions, and go to NATA calendar to see when they are offered.
All 4 core courses required for certificate:
- Conservation Site Assessment & Planning
This course builds a foundation of skills useful in conducting site assessments and developing resource management plans. - Collaborating to Manage Ecosystems
This course builds an appreciation of how to manage natural areas as part of a larger ecosystem, in coordination with neighboring land owners. - Managing Visitors and Volunteers in Natural Areas
This course provides guidance on how to integrate visitors and volunteers into natural areas management. - Managing for Diversity Across Florida's Unique Landscapes

Plus, one of these fire-trainings:
