Brandon Evans

I was raised in rural Central Florida just outside the Ocala National Forest, where I developed a deep appreciation for the state’s sandhills, flatwoods, and other beautiful natural communities. This love for Florida has guided me to where I am today.
I found my professional path through the Natural Areas Training Academy. I began the Certificate in Natural Areas Management program shortly after earning a bachelor's degree in biology from Stetson University, where I focused on the ecology of Florida’s sandhill habitats. After graduation, I served two terms with AmeriCorps to support my college community in DeLand. I enrolled in NATA courses to gain a competitive edge in entering the conservation field. Because many of my NATA classmates were already working professionals, I was able to use the classes to expand my professional network in ways that college didn’t provide.
After completing three core courses, I landed my first position in land conservation as the Land Steward for Conservation Florida’s D Ranch Preserve. The organization was specifically seeking someone with CNAM credentials, and I credit this training as a key factor in beginning my career. I’m looking forward to using the skills I’ve gained through this program to help others connect with and care for Florida’s wild places.
Brandon earned his Certificate in Natural Areas Management in May 2025.
