Casey Beavers is an Environmental Specialist with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection in Bartow, FL. Currently, she is involved in phosphate, sand, and limerock mine reclamation, permitting, and mitigation. Her duties also include planning and implementing restoration activities on several state-owned conservation lands.
Casey earned her B.S. degree in Horticulture from the University of Florida in 1996. In 2013, she earned her M.S. in Environmental Science from the Soil and Water Science Department at the University of Florida. In addition, Casey is a Certified Prescribed Burner. Her work allows her to conduct wetland delineation, wetland monitoring, and wetland restoration planning. However, her passion is in the upland restoration projects: converting cogongrass-infested areas to native grasses and pines.
Casey's only regret in completing the Natural Areas Management Certificate Program in May 2017 is that she misses all of the fun and knowledgeable classmates and instructors in the workshops.
