    Nutrient Dynamics of Residential Lawns

Residential lawns represent one of the largest land uses across the United States. These lawns are highly maintained for aesthetics, with large amounts of fertilizer often applied to insure a green lawn. Despite these high rates of fertilizer application, previous work has shown that lawns are capable of high rates of nutrient processing. We are working with colleagues to investigate soil chemistry and biogeochemical processing rates of residential lawns from a master-planned community across homes of different ages.
