Habitat and Range

The turkey oak is an upland tree that grows on the well-drained, sandy, sterile soils. It is commonly associated with longleaf pine, bluejack oak, and sand post oak. It is found on the coastal plain and Piedmont from southeastern Virginia to south Florida, west to Texas, and north to south Arkansa - at elevations up to 500 feet.
