Cynthia Wheeler Grizzle is an environmental scientist with Reynolds, Smith, and Hills, Inc. in Tampa. Currently, her duties include environmental permitting and document writing, GIS data collection and analysis, wetland delineations, gopher tortoise relocations, vegetative assessments, hydrologic monitoring, exotic species removal, listed species surveys, assisting with prescribed burns, seagrass surveys, and other ecological tasks.
Cynthia earned her B.S. degree in Environmental Science and Policy in 2004 from the University of South Florida. In 2009, she earned her M.S. in Environmental Management from the University of Maryland. Cynthia is an FWC certified gopher tortoise agent, an AAUS certified scientific diver, and an FDOT certified highway traffic noise analyst. Prior to graduation, she worked as a land management intern for Pinellas County where she participated in population studies of the Catesby Lily within Brooker Creek Preserve. Cynthia still volunteers at the Brooker Creek Preserve giving presentations on various environmental topics and working special events.
Cynthia's favorite Natural Areas Training Academy workshop was Managing Visitors and Volunteers in Natural Areas. Although this workshop was the least pertinent to her current career, she said she learned a lot of new information that could help her in the future, stretched her creativity muscles using interpretation, and made some great friends around the campfire.
Cynthia earned her Certificate in Natural Areas Management in November 2010.
