Illustrated Talk
An illustrated talk is a presentation that uses visual images, words, or items to enhance the presentation.
Junior, Senior, and Intermediate 4-H members who participated in the Panhandle Poultry Project last 4-H year will compete by preparing and delivering an illustrated talk. Use the guidelines below to develop an illustrated talk that you'll deliver at the district show. We use the same rules and score sheets as 4-H County & District Events.
Guidelines:
- Topic - anything related to chickens and poultry science.
- Use visual aids to help explain, support, or enhance your information.
Visuals can include posters, items or objects, handouts, PowerPoint/Google Slides, and more.
Visuals must be visible from 15 feet. - 3-5 minute time limit - Juniors/Intermediates
- 5-7 minute time limit - Seniors
Scoring Criteria:
4-H Member - 20 Points
- Appearance and Poise - 10 points
- Voice and Grammar - 10 points
Organization and Presentation - 30 points
- Introduction - 5 points
- Arrangement and use of equipment - 5 points
- Visual aids - 5 points
- Ability to work easily and efficiently - 5 points
- Summar - 5 points
Subject Matter - 50 points
- Selection of subject - 10 points
- One basic theme - 5 points
- Accurate, up-to-date, and complete - 10 points
- Degree of difficulty - 5 points
- Knowledge of subject and related skills - 10
- Results - 10 points
Total points = 100
- Blue Ribbon 90-100%
- Red Ribbon 80-89%
- White Ribbon 79% and below
