Florida PLT School Program
WHY BECOME A PLT SCHOOL?
PLT offers educators a way to connect students with their natural world, sparking interest and curiosity through cross-curricular activities. Research tells us that children do best when they are engaged in their learning through hands-on experiences. When children experience PLT activities that are incorporated regularly into classwork, they become actively engaged. PLT and environmental education in general encourages students to research, investigate how and why things happen, and make their own decisions about complex environmental issues. Through the PLT Schools Program, PLT activities are regularly incorporated into curriculum and a “PLT Week” makes for a robust learning experience for students.
Principals, PLT-trained educators or facilitators, or Steering Committee members can nominate schools at any time during the year using the Florida PLT School Application.
