    Faculty Resources

    • PBGP Graduate Student and Faculty Handbook
The handbook outlines the official rules, policies, and regulations that faculty must adhere to ensure their students fulfill their degree requirements and meet all deadlines set by the UF Graduate School and the PBGP Ph.D. program.

    • PBGP By-Laws
      Access restricted to PBGP faculty.
These bylaws establish the policies and governing regulations for the PBGP graduate Ph.D. program. All faculty members must adhere and follow these policies. Together, they ensure that PBGP remains a global leader in plant breeding education by training highly skilled students in germplasm and cultivar development.

    • PBGP Guidelines for Fall 2025 Admissions
      Access restricted to PBGP faculty.
These guidelines outline the procedures faculty must follow and the admission criteria used to recruit highly qualified students.

    • PBGP Milestones Checklist
This checklist helps students track program requirements and deadlines. Regular review will help ensure timely progress through the program and support successful graduation.

    • First-Year Student Milestones
      • PBGP Program of Study
This form details all proposed coursework, including core and elective courses, for each semester until graduation. It needs to be discussed with the student's chair and approved by the supervisory committee. The deadline for submission to the program is by the third semester since admission.
      • PBGP Research Prospectus
This 1-2 page document helps students focus and plan their specific research project. It forms the foundation for drafting a comprehensive research proposal during their second year in the program. It must be discussed with the student's advisor and approved by the supervisory committee. The deadline for submission to the program is by the third semester since admission.
    • PBGP Graduate Student Annual Evaluation
The annual evaluation assesses our student’s academic performance and research progress, and their job performance as Graduate Assistants (GA). Evaluations must be signed by both the student and their advisor and are usually due mid-Summer.

    • Guidelines for Graduating Students
These guidelines help students successfully plan their final semester and ensure a timely graduation.

    • IDP (Individual Development Plan)
All Ph.D. students at UF are required to develop an IDP annually with input from their major advisor. The IDP is an open-ended, student-driven document, created to help students align their personal and professional goals with their academic expectations and responsibilities. The IDPs are due at the same time as the PBGP annual student evaluations.

    • UF Graduate Catalog
This is the University of Florida's official record of graduate policies, critical dates, deadlines, course descriptions and other graduate education regulations.
